The newly renamed State Bank Amphitheatre at Chastain Park has been undergoing a $6 million renovation since late October 2017. The board and staff of the Chastain Park Conservancy were given a tour of the improvements with Peter Conlon of Live Nation. Peter showed us around and answered all of our questions. While the historic guts of the amphitheatre remain the same, the improvements are a welcome site. Some of the highlights are a raised stage & ceiling height allowing for video boards and modern day sound and lighting rigs. The concession area has always been drab, but today it is a focal point with all new kitchen and serving facilities, areas to gather, legit bathrooms (with air conditioning). The amphitheatre is now fully ADA compliant including new elevators that take you right to the action. There are also true box seats closest to the stage with cushy seats and cup holders! Powers Ferry Bridge Replacement Meeting
Tomorrow night, May 15th from 6-8pm District 8 Council member JP Matzigkeit will be holding a public information session at the Chastain Horse Park to discuss the replacement of the Powers Ferry Bridge in Chastain Park. Information that will be available at the meeting include:
The project timeline, including when the bridge will be removed and replaced
The vehicular traffic detour
The pedestrian detour for those using the PATH
The rendering of the new bridge
** This is in reference to the bridge that crosses over Nancy Creek, south of Hillside Drive, North of Pineland Rd.

Rock Chastain 2017

Tree Down in Chastain Park Blocking Hillside
This morning I think I found the culprit causing the west side of Chastain Park to not have power the day after Tropical Storm Irma blew by Atlanta. Here is a picture of the tree down at the corner of Hillside Drive & Broadland Road, blocking Hillside completely and pulling the power lines to the ground. There were no signs of Georgia Power in the neighborhood meaning it could be some time before power is restored. Y’all be careful out there.
