State Bank Amphitheatre at Chastain Park
The State Bank Amphitheatre at Chastain Park is located in the historic 268 acre Chastain Park, the largest park in the City of Atlanta. The amphitheatre is surrounded by the Chastain Park neighborhood which is located in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. The Chastain Park Amphitheatre originally opened on June 20, 1944. The amphitheater was upgraded and renovated in 2004 and holds about 6,900 people. In late 2017 the amphitheatre embarked on a $5m renovation including the concession and restroom areas as well as raising the stage opening by 6 feet to allow for larger lighting systems for the bands. Under an agreement with the City, $1 from each ticket and $3 from each car parked in the nearby lots goes into a trust fund that is used to support the infrastructure upgrades and maintenance at the park. In addition, the venture pays a rental fee to the City that goes into the City’s general fund.
