Powers Ferry Road to Reopen Today in Chastain Park
For those of us that live in Chastain Park, the light traffic on Powers Ferry Road has been refreshing. However, forgetting that it is closed every time I leave the neighborhood is not as much fun. On Monday I noticed that the hole in the road had been filled in for the most part, minus a foot or so of concrete needing to be added to the top. Today that is happening. All hands are on deck with finishing touches being applied to the new drain that now enters the golf course from under the road, and the paving trucks taking care of paving the road. The latest report from the Chastain Park Conservancy is that Powers Ferry Road will reopen today at 4pm.
All new pipes have been installed under Powers Ferry and let out at the bottom of the hill on the golf course. So once they open the road it should be smooth sailing until they start working on replacing the Nancy Creek bridge, which could take as long as a year to complete.

Upcoming Events in Chastain Park
Chastain Park has a lot of exciting events coming up as we are pushing through spring. This weekend are two fun events that take place each year, Party at the Park which supports Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Summer Camps, and Wine Chastain which supports the Chastain Park Conservancy.
Party in the Park is this Friday night 4/21 at the Chastain Horse Park. Party at the Park is a Friends of Chastain event and all proceeds from the party will benefit the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Summer Camp program. More information can be found at https://www.partyatthepark.org. Tickets are $100 online, or $125 at the door.
Saturday night 4/22 is Wine Chastain. Wine Chastain is an annual fundraising event put on by the Chastain Park Conservancy and held at a home on Pineland Road. We have been going to this party for several years and it is lots of fun. People that love Chastain Park from near and far come together to taste fine wines, eat great food, and enjoy gathering with others to support the park. On May 7, 2017 the Cox Media Group PATH Chastain 5k/10k will take place in Chastain Park. The 5k/10k will follow Path Chastain for a USATF certified distance winding through the park. Chastain East Begins Construction
Yesterday I took a drive over to check out Chastain East, a new development on the east side of Chastain Park. This western stretch of Wieuca Road was previously the home of 15 single family residences on 8.4 acres. Once complete Chastain East will have 32 new single family residences priced from $1,000,000 and up.
As you drive down Wieuca Road you will see the first two homes are already out of the ground and framed up. Chastain East will offer several floor plans including options with master on the main and master up. All of the floorpans include a covered front porch, rear entry two car garage, and rear covered porch. According to their website, each home in Chastain East will feature the very latest in home design trends, energy efficiency and craftsmanship. If you are looking for a home that gives you the freedom to lock and leave, this could be a great option for you. In a Q&A with one of the developers Southeast Capital Companies, Jay Clark explained that the home owners association will maintain all yards and common areas.

New 3-Way Stop at Powers Ferry-Hillside in Chastain Park
Be on the lookout for the new stop sign that was
installed yesterday 1/26/17 in Chastain Park. The new 3-way stop is at the intersection of Powers Ferry Road and Hillside Drive. This is a welcome addition to those that are turning onto Powers Ferry from Hillside, as well as pedestrians on the PATH, as this stretch of road tends to be fast.

About the Project:

The improvements include operational and safety enhancements to alleviate the existing bottleneck condition. Sidewalks and pedestrian access improvements are also planned.

Be sure to plan to join Sardis United Methodist Church for the 2016 presentation of the Live Nativity. This year it will take place on the 10th and 11th of December starting at 6:00 pm and occurring every thirty minutes until 8:00 pm. After the performance enjoy cookies and hot chocolate and/or cider and come inside to sing Christmas carols in the historic Church sanctuary. This is a free event.
