Powers Ferry Road Closure July 7th
Update: Here is a picture of the work going on July 14th on Powers Ferry Road just north of Eppington Drive.
In case you have missed the big orange signs on Powers Ferry Rd near Cochran & Whitmere, on July 7th the City of Sandy Springs is going to be making storm water infrastructure improvements along Powers Ferry Road to handle standing water that occurs in the road. The project is projected to take at least 75 days in which Powers Ferry Road will be closed to through traffic from just south of Eppington Dr to Whitmere Court. They have said that driveways will be accessible, to what extent I guess we will see once it begins.
So, be on the lookout and be prepared for heavier traffic both in that area and along side streets during this construction. I suspect traffic will be significantly heavier during Chastain Park Amphitheater concerts as this will restrict both ingress and egress before and after shows. Below is a statement from Sandy Springs:
The City of Sandy Springs looks forward to improving its roads and infrastructure. Construction crews from Site Engineering, working for the City of Sandy Springs, will be installing stormwater drainage infrastructure improvements. This work will take place during the daytime hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Powers Ferry Road will be closed to through traffic from just south of Eppington Drive to Whitmere Court for a minimum of 75 days.
Expect delays as you access your street and Powers Ferry Road while crews are working. Driveways will be accessible during the work. Construction will begin as soon as the week of July 7th; weather permitting.
