E. Rivers Sutton Campus

Due to a gas main break at the main campus of Warren T. Jackson Elementary School on Mt Paran Rd, 2nd – 5th grade students of Jackson are joining the students of E. Rivers at the former Sutton campus at the corner of Powers Ferry Rd & Jett Rd.  We joined a bunch of our neighbors to walk the kids to school this morning and everything seemed to be moving along smoothly.  The teachers were able to get into their classrooms yesterday to get everything set up, and from what I heard they were pleased with their temporary digs.

From a parent standpoint I was really impressed with how organized everything was yesterday once the announcement came down.  The E. Rivers principal was all over it and had a plan in place in no time.  Chastain Park parents that live close to the campus were encouraged to walk their children to school to hopefully cut down on the traffic at the school and in the surrounding area.  We arrived around 7:30 and traffic really wasn’t much heavier than normal at that time, at least on Powers Ferry.

Please be aware of the increased foot and auto traffic this week.  I think a lot of our neighborhood will take this opportunity to walk their children to and from school.  Maybe one day APS will turn that campus back into a middle school!
