Gelato Stop in Chastain Park

May 8, 2011

Surely by now you have seen the Green Gelato Stop truck parked along West Wieuca in Chastain Park. Well, Ben and I stopped by last week to check it out and were very glad we did.  That day they were parked right across from the playground near the new viewing shed above the NYO fields.  Ben got the Dark Chocolate and I got the Chocolate Fudge Cookie.  Both were awesome and as you can see, Ben didn’t hold back and proceeded to get it all over him.  The folks dishing out the gelato were super nice and it was clear this is not your old “ice cream truck.”

The Gelato Stop is not only a way to cool down while in the park, but also a way to support Chastain Park.  Gelato Stop teamed up with the Chastain Park Conservancy to provide gelato, bottled water and energy drinks to those enjoying the park.  “Gelato Stop is a dream of serving up smiles, promoting healthy lifestyles, and being involved with our communities,” said Evelyn, a member of the Gelato Stop leadership team.

The gelato they are serving is made fresh to order in small batches from natural ingredients.  “It has more flavor, less calories and less fat than regular ice cream,” says Evelyn.

Daily Menu:

Dark Chocolate, Hazelnut, Peanut Butter Cup, Tahitian, Vanilla, Fresh Coconut, Caramel Gelato, Chocolate Fudge Cookie, Strawberry, Rasberry Cream, Mango, Capuccino and Key Lime.
They also serve bottled water & energy drinks

Hours of Operation:

11:30am – 8:00pm, 7 days a week

This is wonderful! I’m glad that the city is allowing the mobile food business to move……literally.

It’s typically parked on West Wieuca, and during most of the summer right at the bottom of Pool Rd.
