Chastain Park Tennis Center Grand Opening

August 18, 2010

Today marked the grand opening of the Chastain Park Tennis Center.  The building is part of the EarthCraft House light commercial pilot program and received it’s certification plaque today as part of the celebration.  The first serve was made, the ribbon was cut, and about 50 people including neighbors, city officials and the press made it out to see it all go down.  I have lots of pictures of the event below.

This was the first major project of the Chastain Park Conservancy’s Master Plan. The tennis center was designed by Bill Harrison of Harrison Design Associates, and was built by the Astra Group.  The landscaping was done by Ed Castro.

This is an important project for Chastain Park and the neighborhood as this is a major intersection and now serves as the gateway into Chastain Park.  I think it turned out great and am really excited to have such a first class facility in our park.
